What do you do in your job?

My job asks me to assist the Tayside and Forth Valley Local Authorities in producing housing strategies, housing and need and demand assessments and other publications. Alongside, I work closely with colleagues in other parts of the Government in preparing briefings for Ministers.

How did you hear about the job and what did the application process involve?

Advertising through a national newspaper. The application process was two fold. Firstly, I did a group and written exercise and after that I attended an interview.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

There are three main areas which I enjoy the most; firstly the interaction between the different stakeholders, secondly working in the many varied parts of Government and thirdly producing something that is able to quantifiably assist a household.

What is the most challenging aspect to your job?

Internal politics can often detract from the experience and the cultures of outside organisations can be difficult to break.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still working for the Scottish Government but maybe in a different branch.
